West Mt. Airy Neighbors

Mt. Airy Safety Network
The Mt. Airy Safety Network serves as a gathering-and-dissemination clearing house for information on crime and safety.

You may sign up to receive Mt. Airy Safety Network Alerts that will be sent when the need arises.

In addition to Safety Alerts, which are sent to all who sign up, West Mt. Airy Neighbors has divided the community into 15 zones for targeted communications. Residents who live in the zone where a crime is reported will also receive the Safety Network email. For a map showing the zones, click here.

To report a crime to the Safety Network, write to wman@wman.net right after you call 911. Please be as specific as possible as to the type of crime, location, description of perpetrators if possible. Or, call WMAN at (215) 438-6022.

Virtual Block Captain Program
West Mt. Airy Neighbors is looking for volunteers to serve as Virtual Block Captains. What do Virtual Block Captains do? They commit to maintaining an email list of everyone on their block and forwarding Mt. Airy Safety Network Alerts to their neighbors. They also receive invitations to events for block captains focused on public safety and crime prevention.

This is a great way to serve your community if you have regular access to email and just a little time.

A list of the current Virtual Block Captains is available online. Write to WMAN’s Executive Director at wman@wman.net if you wish to join as a Virtual Block Captain.

Graffiti removal kits
West Mt. Airy Neighbors distributes free Graffiti Removal Kits for neighbors who commit to removing new graffiti within 24 hours. For more information, click here.

The Quality of Life Committee is not a decision making body, but rather a forum to allow neighbors to discuss and find solutions to common community problems.

The Quality of Life Committee meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM at Summit Presbyterian Church at the corner of Greene and Westview Streets.
